Re: the Cocoi nest
A loud croaking mystery sound baffled us, until Daniel's sharp eyes spotted the nest high above our heads!
He and Jennifer also spotted the Pearl Kite, and later he saw the Striped Owl while searching for the third Burrowing Owl.

Also at PTAR piscinas were two adorable young Cocoi Herons in their sky-high nest. The finale for PTAR were a pair of Orange-crowned Euphonias and a Pearl Kite... who knew that the Striped Owl patiently awaited at the next stop!
At PTAR piscinas, several species entertained us; Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Pied-billed Grebes, Masked Water-tyrants, White-cheeked Pintails. #BirdsSeenIn2025, #birds, #PortoviejoEcuador,

The road to #laTomatera was too muddy to drive, so Jennifer and I trekked in hopes of seeing the Gray-capped Cuckoo (heard!) & possibly the Pearly-breasted Cuckoo👎. Most vocal were the Golden Grosbeaks. Also seen: Streaked Saltator, 1-colored Becard.

Hoping to see the newest addition to the Burrowing Owl family, my friends Daniel and Jennifer and I delighted in seeing a new species for #ParqueLasVegas, an eBird Hotspot. I present to you the magnificent Striped Owl!

Switching hats, I leave for Museo Portoviejo, where 'Etapa2' opens on Feb. 13/2025 at 4 pm.
Merging art with augmented reality allows the visitor to experience tiny snippets of nature encounters. The public response to these shows humbles me.
