#wkwsci | Victor Zhuang | 26 comments I am pleased to share that I have been awarded the Christopher Newell Award, presented by AANZCA (the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Communication Association) at the 2025 AANZCA Conference. Christopher Newell AM (1964–2008) was a leading researcher and advocate in the field of disability and communication. As a person with disability, he undertook pioneering work in telecommunications to foreground questions of disability and accessibility within Australian telecommunications policy and practice. His many roles included serving as Chair of the Australian Communications Industry Forum Disability Advisory Body and as a member of the Council of the Australian Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman. The Christopher Newell Prize is awarded to the best paper presented at an AANZCA conference that addresses issues of disability and communication, or broader questions of equity, diversity, and social justice as they relate to communication. The award reflects both Christopher Newell’s legacy and AANZCA’s longstanding leadership in advancing disability-focused scholarship within communication studies. I have heard so much about Christopher Newell and his work through Gerard Goggin, and I am deeply honoured to receive an award that bears his name. This recognition cannot be possible without the many efforts of other disability scholars at AANZCA, including Gerard Goggin, Katie Ellis, Ashleigh Haw (she/her) Stephanie Mantilla, but also folks like Kathryn Locke Kim Cousins Wenqi Tan and many others, all of whom have flown and continue to fly the flag of disability research at AANZCA. My thanks also to AANZCA and the selection committee for this recognition, as well as the disability scholars, mentors, and colleagues whose work and guidance have shaped and informed my own. Looking forward to more years of disability research in communications and media studies! #wkwsci Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information | 26 comments on LinkedIn

#accessibility #inclusion #bgfi | Prashant Naik Honoured to be the Chief Guest and speak at BGFI’s 41st Annual Function on 11 January 2026. Beginning the year by advocating inclusion felt meaningful. My message to the audience was simple and direct: "Disability is not the barrier - inaccessible systems are". I concluded with a belief I strongly stand by: "Don’t wait for inclusion to happen. Build it through your own contribution and commitment". BGFI’s newly launched logo reflects this renewed mission well - clear, purposeful, and focused on enabling independence and opportunity. Appreciate BGFI’s sustained commitment to inclusion and real impact since 1985. My best wishes for their future endevours. Thank you Amit Jain Adv Penav Mota #Accessibility #Inclusion #BGFI

#caps2025 #presidentsaward #inclusiveleadership #disabilityinclusion #leadershipinaction #speakingprofessionals #capscommunity #gratitude | Denis Boudreau | 122 comments I didn’t see this coming. And I’m still processing it. Last week at the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS) Convention in Halifax, I was awarded this year’s President’s Award - a recognition personally selected by the association’s national president, given to someone whose contributions reflect the values and spirit of our community. This year, that person was me. To be recognized for my work helping CAPS become a more inclusive and welcoming space… it means more than I can say. This isn’t something I expected. It’s not something I chase. But it speaks directly to the kind of work I’ve committed myself to, inside this community and far beyond it. Every year, I’ve watched this award go to someone I deeply admire. Someone who made me want to be a better contributor, a better leader, a better speaker. To be on the receiving end now is incredibly humbling. It reminds me that we all carry the responsibility to create belonging for those still finding their way. Since that moment on stage, the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. The hugs. The messages. The kind words from peers I respect and deeply appreciate. It’s a rare and powerful thing to feel so deeply seen. But it also reminded me of something far more important: We all have the power to make someone feel seen. We all shape the spaces we’re part of. And we all have a responsibility to reach back and lift others as we go. So let me ask you… Who helped you feel like you belonged? Whose leadership shaped the way you show up? And how are you creating that kind of space for others? If someone comes to mind, tag them. Thank them. Let them know they mattered. Because that kind of recognition ripples out further than we ever realize. #CAPS2025 #PresidentsAward #InclusiveLeadership #DisabilityInclusion #LeadershipInAction #SpeakingProfessionals #CAPSCommunity #Gratitude | 122 comments on LinkedIn

#thestevieawards #steviewinner2025 #fractionalleadership #womeninbusiness #gratitude | Stephanie Warlick | 41 comments Honored Beyond Words: Bringing Home Three Stevie® Awards Monday night in New York City, I had the incredible privilege of accepting three Stevie® Awards at the 22nd annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and I'm still processing it all. The Recognition: 🥇 GOLD – Dark and Silent Office: A Digital Accessibility Guidebook for Inclusive Communication in the Workplace – Book of the Year 🥈 SILVER – Best Female Entrepreneur, Business Services (10 or Fewer Employees) 🥉 BRONZE – 5FT View Consulting – Startup of the Year, Business Services Industries It's an honor to be recognized by The Stevie® Awards as a Gold, Silver, and Bronze winner in this year's competition. But more significantly, it's truly a gift to love getting up each day and living my purpose of supporting other business leaders and helping them manage and scale their businesses. Building What I Needed My work exemplifies what I desperately needed as a business founder and leader but couldn't find. As a small business owner, I needed affordable access to executive-level expertise. As an HR leader, I needed practical guidance on how to move beyond simply saying I was inclusive in the workplace—I needed to know how to put those words into action. So I created them. The fractional executive collective. The accessibility guidebook. The tools and services that didn't exist when I needed them most. Now, I have the privilege of sharing these solutions with other businesses facing the same challenges I once faced. What Really Matters My success would not be possible without the never-ending support of my family and friends, and especially my best friend and husband, James, and my twin girls, Maddie and Kyra, who are my WHY. They are the foundation of everything I do. 5FT View would not be here if it weren’t for the trust of my dear clients. It is truly a privilege to be a part of your teams and to support you on your journey. I also have the opportunity to partner with delightful professionals in The 5FT View Fractional Expert Collective. They are each brilliant and lovely people who make my work fun and rewarding. These awards reflect their excellence as much as they reflect my own efforts. The Journey Continues The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run worldwide. To be counted among this year's winners is humbling and motivating in equal measure. These awards remind me that the work matters—and that's the greatest gift of all. Congratulations to all the winners - especially my new friends Linda Pandolph Vicki Hamilton, MBA Learn more about the 2025 Stevie Award winners: https://lnkd.in/eRjpeGsr #TheStevieAwards #StevieWinner2025 #FractionalLeadership #WomenInBusiness #Gratitude James Warlick Maddie Warlick Kyra Warlick | 41 comments on LinkedIn

My team who stood by me with Priti Rohra and so many others. Shashank Kapur, CPACC and Abhay Kapur who bought into the vision and are helping realize the vision. #phd #phdone #bostoncollege #lynchschool #leadership #highered… | Kyle Shachmut | 157 comments 2025 has been a whirlwind so far. After a long but fruitful journey, I recently completed and celebrated the awarding of my Ph.D. in Higher Education from the Boston College Lynch School. 🎓💥🤯 It has been a challenge undertaking this journey over the past several years while working full time along with personal responsibilities and professional service. It has also been a great privlidge and learning experience to be studying and working on the same challenge, digital accessibility on college and university campuses. Our scholarship and work are each better when they are informed by one another, and I was fortunate--even if occasionally overwhelmed--to be deeply imersed in both. I look forward to contributing in new and expanded ways in the future and am always eager to find new collaborators in the space. 💫 I was privileged and grateful to work with Heather Rowan-Kenyon as my advisor and Chair. My committee was full of insight and help along the way: Andrés Castro Samayoa, Kristen Bottema-Beutel, and Jonathan Lazar. Thanks to you all! ✨ The combination of rigor with support, thoughtfullness and creativity, and a commitment to upholding the Jesuit ideal of making the world more just through research, teaching and service is second to none in the Educational Leadership & Higher Education Department at Boston College. I would not have made it through without the support and encouragement of scholars and leaders in my cohort, including Christopher, Venus, Patrick and more. We learned a lot together, overcame challenges and had fun along the way! 💖 I'm tremendously appreciative of everyone who helped along the way: unwavering and understanding family, supportive supervisors and teammates, engaging classmates, colleagues always there to offer an encouraging word amid uncertainty, and so, so may more. 🫶 I've been attempting to take a little time to pause, reflect on this milestone, and enjoy the achievement, but I am equally excited to find the ways I will grow, evolve, and accelerate professionally as a result of this experience. 🚀 #PhD #PhDone #BostonCollege #LynchSchool #leadership #HigherEd #accessibility #a11y | 157 comments on LinkedIn
