The prison doctor said she probably had a heart attack. But officials still refused to transfer her to a hospital. After visiting her on 29 March, her lawyers said she lost a lot of weight and was pale. Prison officials have been denying her medical care for her chest pain, severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, double vision, blood pressure fluctuations, fainting and other symptoms. Narges Mohammadi has said that these conditions began after her violent arrest in Mashhad on 12 December 2025, when she was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment, including repeated blows to the head, resulting in bleeding and leaving visible bruises over three months later. On 6 February, while held in a Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Mashhad, she also lost consciousness and was transferred to Razavi Hospital, where a specialist urgently recommended an angiography. The procedure was never carried out. Instead, on 10 February, she was transferred to Zanjan prison where she is held in a section holding prisoners convicted of murder and other violent crimes.Prisoners in Zanjan are at risk from US and Israeli airstrikes amid explosions near the facility, which Narges Mohammadi said prisoners hear, further heightening their stress and exacerbating her fragile health.Iranian authorities must remove, to the extent possible, all prisoners and other civilians from the vicinity of military objectives, release all those arbitrarily detained and grant humanitarian release to other prisonersNarges Mohammadi was unjustly sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on spurious national security charges stemming solely from her human rights activism, bringing the total number of prison terms from various cases opened against her in recent years to 18 years.
