Thanks to Canada's Public Lending Rights program - I recommend all Canadian Authors register their books. If you book is in one of the libraries they sample, you get royalties. #publiclendingright #bringingtheartstolife

The #PublicLendingRight program of the Canada Council for the Arts provides modest payments to creators to compensate them for their books in public libraries. I just received my very small, but very heartwarming payment for 2025. This feels like what a civilized country does.

Thanks to #PublicLendingRight for #BringingTheArtsToLife I get more for my picture book for being in libraries than through royalties.
I wrote a memoir. My first book. I am 🇨🇦. I registered that book last year with PLR. Public Lending Right-an arm of the Canada Council for the Arts that pays authors based on having their books in Public Libraries. Received my first payment! #BringingTheArtsToLife #PublicLendingRight #Memoir
My #PublicLendingRight cheque arrived!
Spouse brought it to me at the library as we volunteered sorting seeds into packets.
I got to show it off to fellow volunteers & thank them for their tax dollars.
(It's BIGGER than last year. More of my books were found in libraries across Canada. eeeeeeeee!)
Grateful to the Canada Council for the Arts, as one of 18K literary creators who received payment this year as compensation for the presence of my book "Dancehall Rebel" in Canada's public libraries 📚.
Thank you, #PublicLendingRight (PLR) Commission 🙏🏽!

Very grateful to be one of 18,661 creators receiving a #publiclendingright payment for having books in Canada's wonderful public libraries. Thank you, libraries, the Canada Council for the Arts' Public Lending Right Program and everyone who reads books!

Grateful to #CanadaCouncilForTheArts for their support of Canadian authors through the #PublicLendingRight program. Writers get compensation for titles they have in public libraries. One of *many* reasons to be grateful for Canada's strong library systems and the great folks who work there!
According to the letter I just received, this year CA $14,795,649.63 was paid out in direct #PublicLendingRight payments to 18,661 Canadian literary creators
Mine was $384.88 because my book is still in 8 Canadian libraries and it's over 5 years old (none of them have the audiobook anymore, sadly)
That's a great way to support writers! Libraries buy copies and people find books there. And #PublicLendingRight supports writers, too.
The Hunted Kashallan: Tales of the Kashallans, Book 2 by Celu Amberstone. My people. May I be worthy of their trust, he prayed silently as he lookd into their eyes. <<Don't fret, Kasha,>> Tani said. <<I have my encoded memories to guide us. All will be well.>> Dunnagh surreptitiously brushed a hand across his middle. The symbiont was so young and meant well, but there were too many unknowns in this equation for his liking. <<You are probably right, Shalla. I will try to remember.>> books2read.com/hunted kashallan
During #Smashwords sale, there's been a lot of interest in Celu Amberstone's series Tales of the Kashallans!

Remember to ask at the public library for books you want. Library sales support authors! and so do payments from #PublicLendingRight. #booksky
Daniel Maluka's gorgeous poems held our attention. A fitting end to Poetry Month!
Of course I then had to explain about PLR, #PublicLendingRight. Taking our books out from libraries benefits authors, including financially! Took home amazing books by Elizabeth Greene and Daniel Maluka, both of whom read amazing poetry for the last day of Poetry Month.
Isn't it wonderful to have a PLR cheque?
All those public libraries with our books in them... all those readers... it's a small program but this collective support means so much.
Some winters the #PublicLendingRight cheque was my only income that month, or season.
One year, PLR turned into a marvelous bike for me. It's still being ridden! Transportation and recreation for years because of #PublicLendingRight.
Thank you, dear readers, for heading out to the library and borrowing my books. It’s hugely appreciated. #PublicLendingRight
