"you never had me fooled for a moment, Zöe says cryptically. alt-textra: i snuck in lots already, but here i'll tell you a memory. in the early 90s Peter, Paul and Mary had been doing performances for children that ultimately led to the album Peter, Paul and Mommy, Too. i remember PBS was showing one of those performances and mom and i watched it together and i think it was then that i realized how sad of a song Puff, the Magic Dragon really is. as a parent watching my own kids grow up and having that epiphany that we don't go on forever and how much sadder it would be to be a dragon watching everyone you ever loved go away. it feels like the earliest seed for this story. also i kinda want to put a dragon in the sequel. his name will be Fred. and no i don't believe it is about pot. 🙃
