Quinn formed an unexpected friendship with The Inquisitor. In fact, it was Daine who informed her of Varric’s passing after her first journey north to Minrathous. The reason she waited at all, was so she could tell Quinn in person. She couldn't imagine reading those words on formal parchment from the Inquisition and can only imagine Daine's reaction to Harding's missive. That night no cup was empty for long. The two of them toasted to Varric until sunrise and drank some more until Anders shoved a familiar hangover cure into their hands. Cassandra didn’t drink enough to need the tincture, but her eyes were red from tears helping her blend in with the somber crowd. “Maybe if I had stayed behind in the Fade,” Quinn mused, words slurred and thick with grief. “You think you would’ve retained enough of who you are to recognize him after ten years?” Daine’s question makes Quinn wrinkle her nose in displeasure, but she cannot deny the logic in her words. There’s no telling who - or what - she’d become after roaming the Fade for a decade. “I just wish he hadn’t gone alone.” "I wish he hadn't gone at all." Daine's voice croaks around her anguish and Cassandra is there to hold her close when she inevitably collapses into herself. Quinn takes Daine's hand, her cup abandoned on the damp rug and lets her tears flow like a river undammed. "Yeah, me too."
