Quinta do Mocho is one of the most intense street art areas around Lisbon: huge murals on housing blocks, everyday life happening underneath. I’ve written why it’s now on my must-visit list for urban art.

Streetartwall. This beautiful mural of a rooster was spray-painted on the outside wall of a three-story apartment building a few years ago. The rooster stands between a row of windows that are on the left side. Detailed and curved lines were used to create a proud blue and white rooster with a bushy crest and erect tail feathers, standing amidst tulip blossoms. Both the animal's body and the flowers have been drawn with fine lines, making the cockerel something special. Info: The mural plays with two Portuguese symbols of folk art: the cockerel of Barcelos and the famous Portuguese tiles, the azulejos. The rooster heralds the sunrise and symbolizes the end of darkness and that a better day lies ahead. It also symbolizes courage and wisdom.

Streetartwall. On the outer wall of three-story apartment building is sprayed / painted mural of a young woman in naive comic style. She sits with one leg drawn up on the wall of the house. Her left arm leans on one of the real windows. She wears short denim dungarees, striped top shirt and holds her head slightly to the side. Her hair is made up of countless pastel splotches of color. A naively playful Mural that gives an enchanting mood to a gray wall.
