What a fitting tribute that the BBMF
Lancaster just did a low level pass of the #NAMmemorialGarden en-route to the aviation memorial at Hallam, Nottinghamshire #OneOfOurs

We’ve just added a news item to the website about a recent reunion visit related to #Lancaster #ME846 & the 619 Squadron Association

We're not sure on the use - previous discussions elsewhere about what three wheeled motorcar chassis it was based on - never any formal conclusions!
Another #RAFWinthorpe vehicle photo!
Adding into the 'transport' debate here's a custom-built three wheeled vehicle that was used at #RAFWinthorpe in World War II - badged as DOOFA M.T.

An aircrew memorial at ex RAF Kelstern in the East Lindsey District Council area of Lincolnshire
We're located on ex #RAFWinthorpe & we're very proud of the training role provided in World War II by #1661HCU & we're also proud of our international connections. Something that today's poster was reminded of earlier today in #Lincolnshire at the RAF Kelstern memorial. #LestWeForget 🍁
Poster has particularly strong bonds with their Canadian relatives; plus local connections with the hundreds of personnel that trained at #RAFWinthorpe with #1661HCU & at #RAFBalderton 🍁🍁
In the 'other' place we've been trying to help with info on 58MU @ RAF Newark & World War II crash recovery; poor quality photo of the 58 MU convoy from 'Lancaster at War Part 1' c/w Lancaster at #RAFWinthorpe & a payment 'offer' found in the #NAMarchive

The previous Javelin post made us reflect that since way back in 1967 several of our nearly 100 aircraft exhibits have been flown in to the runways at ex #RAFWinthorpe to join our diverse aviation collection!
Not quite in the same league, or indeed era; however the Voodoo photo reminded us of this #NAMarchive picture + our well established links to teh RCAF through the #1661HCU training unit @ ex #RAFWinthorpe where we are now located!

Season's Greetings from everyone at the museum, which is located on part of the former ex #RAFWinthorpe airfield!

On this date 80 years ago (04.12.44) Stirling EF186, from 1661 HCU crashed near Grantham, while on a training flight from #RAFWinthorpe. The 9 flowering cherry trees in the #NAMmemorialGarden commemorate the 9 airmen who were killed in the crash.
