Full image fanart illustration of the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends franchise story Golden Jubilee from the Railway Series book 'Thomas and the Fat Controller's Engines.' Two parallel straight railway tracks stretch out of towards the viewer's left with the sun rising on the horizon. A medium dark blue steam locomotive with red stripes, a red chassis and black smokebox, buffers, smokestack, and cab roof with a matching tender named Edward, who's numbered with a yellow 2 outlined in red on his tender, travels to the right (viewer left) coming directly at the viewer from a low angle with a very elated expression. He's running light - meaning no rolling stock behind him. He has three headlamps on his front buffer beam - one left, one right one in the middle - as well as one atop his smokebox (head), indicating he's a royal service train. Coming behind him on the adjacent track looks at Edward with a grinning expression looking at him with admiration is a yellow and blue high speed diesel locomotive named Phillipa (or Pip) with matching blue passenger coaches with a white stripe where the windows are trail behind. Pip's lights are also shining behind Edward. Edward has matching blue irises and Pip has teal colored irises. Smoke swirls out of Edward's stack against the matching dark orange, yellow and deep purple sunrise sky. Also in the background are 'chibi-ized' versions of Thomas the Tank Engine (who is also cerulean blue like Edward) with a cheeky expression, Percy the Small Engine (who is bright green) with a laughing expression, and Toby the Tram Engine (who is square and wooden brow), Mavis the Quarry Diesel (who is black with yellow hazard stripes on her front), and Daisy the Diesel Railcar (who is dark green), whom all have content expressions.

Happy 80th anniversary to the Railway Series!

My first entry for the #RWS80thCollab and I was to recreate the famous illustration of the book, The Three Railway Engines.

"We've done it together! We've done it together! We've done it together!"

Today, 80 years ago, a franchise that would make my childhood started with little stories by a Reverend told to his sick son, stories about three talking engines, this was the start of the Railway Series, the books that Thomas and Friends are based on. So for #RWS80thCollab I drew something!

An line art illustration of Jock sitting on the turntable as he says "So do I! My driver says it will be different in the end. This is something he calls an undercoat.”

The art was based on the story "Jock" from the story "Jock the New Engine".

To celebrate the 80 years of The Railway Series, I was part of the #RWS80thCollab, and I was assigned to draw a fan art based from the books, "Jock the New Engine".

“Slowly, but surely, the snorting engines forced the unwilling trucks up the hill. But James began losing steam.

‘I can’t do it, I can’t do it!’ He panted

‘Lae it tae me, lae it tae me!’ Shouted Douglas

Panel 1: duck swims in a pond
Panel 2: a train whistles “PEEEEEEP!!”
Panel 3: the duck rushes through the pond
Under this there is text saying “When Dilly wants a swim, she flies to a nearby pond…”
Panel 4: dilly the duck walks up, quacking, to the engine Oliver and his coaches. He and his driver smile at Dilly. A passenger waits for his train close to the coach, a little girl starts to run after the duck, her father chasing her with a baby in his arms. A woman looks at Dilly from across the platform. Behind the station are some buildings
The last line of text says “…but always returns to welcome the trains.”

"I didn't push him over," she cried in alarm.
Her driver laughed and jumped down.
"No one's blaming you," he said, "but I hope the lorry driver is all right."
The lorry's right-hand door was dcep in the ditch, but now a figure could be seen struggling to climb out at the other side. Mavis's driver went to help.
"Is that a train?" the man demanded.
"It certainly is," laughed Mavis's driver. "You
must be new here, not to have seen us before."
