Today is our #DeedsNotWords day of action for Race Equality week.
We start the day with Evelyn from Tai Pawb sharing what she wants to see from the housing sector in Wales. #EveryActionCounts #RaceEqualityWeek2025
Race Equality Week
This week is #RaceEqualityWeek2025.
The UK labour market still faces many structural inequalities, with people from ethnic minorities more likely to be in severely insecure work – characterised by low or unpredictable pay, irregular hours & a lack of protections. (1/6)
And the implementation of Anti-Racism initiatives across housing has had a positive impact: - More ethnic minority people feel able to speak up - Fewer ethnic minority people feel worried about having things in common with others - More ethnic minority people feel that Anti-Racism is important to their managers - More ethnic minority people feel respected by colleagues and managers
In our Deeds not Words follow up survey, conducted 2 years after we launched Deeds not Words, it was clear that the implementation of Anti-Racism initiatives across housing has had a positive impact.
See some of the results below.

Spollight on our anti-racism work: deeds not words panel set up with regular coffee mornings, and a deeds not words day of action celebrated across socials for race equality week, with 14 organisations taking part
Over the last few years we set up our Deeds not Words panel where ethnic minority housing professionals lead, influence, scrutinise and support the sector in becoming Anti-Racist - you'll hear more about them later in the week.

diagram of steps with 4%, 6%, 7% and 9% going up the steps corresponding to 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Since our Deeds not Words Anti-Racism pledge in 2020, board diversity in social landlords in Wales has increased from 4% to 9%.
#DeedsNotWords #RaceEqualityWeek2025 #EveryActionCounts
80% of housing organisations have an Anti-Racism plan. 75% of our Deeds not Words pledgees are actively recruiting people from ethnic minority backgrounds. Significantly more organisations are engaged with their ethnic minority tenants/services users than in 2021.
The Housing Sector is making strides towards the goal to be an Anti-Racist Wales.
There is much more to do, but during 2023-2024 we achieved some big milestones, particularly in social housing.

At Scottish Ethnic Minority Autistics (SEMA), we believe real change begins with action. That’s why we’re proud to stand with Race Equality Week 2025 and its powerful theme: #EveryActionCounts. Race Equality Week is a UK-wide movement uniting organisations and individuals to tackle barriers to race equality. This year’s theme reminds us that no action is too small to make a difference. Why #EveryActionCounts? The theme was chosen by the Race Equality Matters (REM) community to reflect the urgent need for meaningful change. Here’s why it matters: 🌟 Only 40% believe their organisations focus on action, change, and impact—not just words. 🌟 26% feel less than a quarter of allies are actively helping to tackle race inequality. 🌟 While 64% say senior leaders are committed, only 46% believe they’re making an impact. These stats show that listening and discussing are not enough. It’s time to act. Every Small Step Matters Every action, no matter how small, sows the seeds for change. Whether it’s: 📚 Educating yourself on racial inequality. 📣 Amplifying marginalised voices. 🚧 Challenging systemic barriers in your workplace or community. #EveryActionCounts builds on previous themes like #ItsEveryonesBusiness (2023) and #ListenActChange (2024), pushing us to move beyond words and into tangible, impactful action. What Can You Do? Everyone has a role to play in the fight for racial equality. Here’s how you can get involved: ✅ Take the 5-Day Challenge to drive meaningful change. ✅ Educate yourself and advocate for marginalised communities. Find resources here: https://www.raceequalitymatters.com/race-equality-week-2025/ This Race Equality Week, let’s turn #EveryActionCounts into a movement of real, lasting change. 💬 What action will you take today? Share your commitment with us using #EveryActionCounts and #SEMA. 📅 Race Equality Week 2025: Let’s make it count! . . . . . ➡ If you are an Autistic Person of Colour in Scotland, ask to join our safe and sensitive What…
