Look at Paris!!! The city that said NO to cars!
For comparison, I moved to Dublin in 2016, and little, if any, meaningful progress has happened since.
Dublin continues to prioritise cars over people.
#ReimagineDublin
Despite abysmal active transport infrastructure, more people are cycling. This is great news.
Imagine what we could achieve if we actually provided people with the world class active transport infrastructure they deserve.
#ReimagineDublin
We have to stop running Dublin as a for-profit business.
My letter in The Irish Times this morning.

No mention of health, climate action, or sustainability.
Yet another missed opportunity to create a healthier, fairer city for all.
#ReimagineDublin
The UN-Habitat Five Principles of Sustainable Neighbourhood Planning.
Not to be negative, but bar a few exceptions, Dublin is failing on all five — and spectacularly so.
We desperately need to up our ambitions and #ReimagineDublin.
Relying on a coastal rail line as climate change gets worse is madness.
Move it inland. Put it in a tunnel. Build it properly for the future.

Finally, a place for Dublin’s stilt community to gather.
On the Grow College Green project and Ireland’s habit of treating “progress” as a goal in itself.
#ReimagineDublin
Copenhagen is far from perfect, but the Danes get a lot right.
Dublin has the potential to truly “compete” with Copenhagen as a so-called 'perfect city', whatever that means.
But right now, the Danes are living it, while those of us in Dublin are stuck with… well, very little.
#ReimagineDublin
Beg buttons relegate pedestrians to second-class citizens, forcing them to apply just to cross the road safely.
It’s time to get rid of them and prioritise people, not cars.
#ReimagineDublin
Cities around the world are banning fossil fuel advertising.
Why can't Dublin? Or more accurately, why won't Dublin?
#ReimagineDublin #BanFossilAds
📍 Oslo
Notice the number of simple zebra crossings. No lights, no fancy infrastructure, just clear priority for pedestrians.
The result? Slower cars, calmer streets, and a city that feels safer and less dominated by traffic.
We desperately need this in Dublin / Ireland!
#ReimagineDublin
Dublin City Council continue to churn out half-arsed, overly complicated, poor-quality designs. Nobody wins. Even those who think the car wins are mistaken.
My latest Substack.
#ReimagineDublin
My most recent thoughts on Dublin City Council’s active transport infrastructure.
We’re in real trouble...
#ReimagineDublin
YES!
#ReimagineDublin
I would love to see a similar level of ambition and vision for Dublin.
Dublin desperately needs greener, healthier and creative solutions like this!
#ReimagineDublin
Freshly laid tarmac, freshly painted death lane.
How is this an acceptable standard in 2025 @dubcitycouncil.bsky.social? Paint ≠ infrastructure.
We deserve wide, fully protected cycle lanes that support a healthier, safer, more sustainable city.
This simply isn’t good enough.
#ReimagineDublin
Interesting look at mode share across 800 cities worldwide. City size and income tell you a lot about how people get around. And, well… Dublin doesn’t come out looking great. Not exactly a stronghold of public or active transport.
#ReimagineDublin
Dublin has all the ingredients to be a world-class cycling city, but we need a real shift in thinking, ambition, and action.
We need to move from talking the talk to walking (and cycling) the walk.
Because as is, this is what it feels like to cycle in Dublin 👎
#ReimagineDublin
Doing something isn’t success. Active-travel infrastructure needs to be safe, wide, and usable — not squeezed beside a canal because nobody will take space from cars.
#ReimagineDublin
Sorry for the inconvenience.
My letter to the editor this morning is about how we should use the lessons from events like the Dublin Marathon to make Dublin a healthier, greener, and more people-friendly city, not just every blue moon, but on a permanent basis.
#ReimagineDublin
You might’ve missed it amid the presidential election and the Dublin Marathon, but Dublin deserves a world-class, fully integrated public and active transport app.
Other European cities have had them for years: plan, pay, ride — all in one place!

My piece in The Journal 👇
📍 Grand Canal Street Lower.
A hostile street space with zero ambition — dull, grey, and joyless.
Where’s the pride in our city’s public realm? We can and must do better.
We need to #ReimagineDublin.
We deserve a world-class fully integrated public and active transport app for Dublin!

My piece in @thejournal.ie this morning.
#ReimagineDublin
Dublin may look like a green city at first glance, but offers highly inequitable access to nature depending on the district.
It is a myopic fix to merely build housing developments on every available plot - we must protect our essential urban nature!
#ReimagineDublin
Imagine a Dublin where the Metro takes you not just to and from the city centre, but to fields, farms, and forests.
We need build homes around green spaces, not on top of them.

The Paris study offers more than just a success story—it’s a blueprint for transformation.
Let's go Dublin!

This piece may offend some.
To them I ask: where is your ambition? Where is the will to truly take space away from cars and give it back to people? Remove parking, close roads to cars, or make them one-way so those walking, wheeling and cycling can move safely.
#ReimagineDublin
For cars in Ireland: build and they will come.
For bikes: build something, tick a box.
In my latest Substack, I look at Dublin’s new cycle routes and why "better than nothing" is not nearly good enough!
If we built for bikes the way we build for cars, Ireland would be transformed.
#ReimagineDublin
My latest Substack is about the need for a fully integrated transport app for Dublin + surroundings.
This would be an easy win that could make travelling in the Dublin area a lot easier.
Please read and share!
#ReimagineDublin
Dublin desperately needs one fully integrated transport app, not a patchwork of half measures.
Read more about this in my latest Substack. Please share if you agree!
