A Positive Step for Ireland, and for SRHR Worldwide As EPF president, I am delighted with the Irish people’s recent decision to make this revolutionary step towards female empowerment with regards to a woman’s right to control her own body, and a governments’ responsibility to allow her to do so. For too long, both in Ireland and elsewhere, women were denied this right and forced either to find alternative means to end their unwanted pregnancies – either involving unsafe clandestine procedures or travelling abroad - or to go through with the pregnancy against their will, irreversibly impacting their bodies and their lives.
