Hays Scooter Rules 101:

• Ride solo! Only one person per scooter.
• Do NOT ride on highways like Vine St. (US 183). Crossing is OK, riding along is not.
• Riding at night? You need a headlight & taillight/reflector.

Riding your scooter on the street? You must follow the same traffic laws as a bicycle.
✅ Obey all signs & signals. ✅ Ride with traffic, to the right. ✅ Use bike lanes. ✅ Signal your turns.

Riding on a residential sidewalk? Be courteous!
• Slow down & give pedestrians space.
• Use a bell or your voice ("On your left!") since scooters are quiet.
• Watch for cars at driveways & alleys.

It's not a law we can enforce, but it's the smartest way to stay safe and prevent injuries from common falls.

• Young Kids: We recommend sidewalks in residential areas.
• Older Kids/Adults: Use the streets and follow all traffic laws, just like a bicycle.
