Inspired by the graphic novel 'The Carter Family: Don’t Forget This Song', which tells the story of the difficult relationship between country music pioneers AP and Sara Carter, 'Orphan Song' is deeply atmospheric, benefiting from haunting backing vocals, lilting lap steel and delicate 12-string notes. Extra musical layers come from Sydney Metcalf on cello and Aleida Gehrels on viola, with a string arrangement by Ric Hordinski.
