Harbour seals come in many colours, from silver and brown to dark grey like this one. But there’s one thing almost all of them have in common—spots!

Somehow harbour seals make lying on barnacle-encrusted rock look comfortable! Must be all that extra padding!

The cooler weather is no problem for these well-insulated harbour seals. They’re wrapped in a blubber layer up to 2.7 cm thick, or just over one inch!

We’ve had some very low tides lately, which is just fine with the local harbour seal population. They get to have sleepy time on a bed of eelgrass instead of a mattress of hard rock and sharp barnacle and mussel shells!

Jan, 21, education tour, Wild 4 Whales: Ahhhh! Doesn’t the blissful expression on this harbour seal’s face look like how you feel as you plonk yourself on the couch at the end of a long work day?
