Rorschach in 90 Seconds! #Rorschach #Watchmen #comic #comicinsights #comichistory Trench coats, bean juice and fist pounding fury, this is your 90 second deep dive into Rorschach, Walter Joseph Kovacs better known as the vigilante Rorschach was the no-nonsense hero of Alan Moore's 1986 masterpiece 'Watchmen'. Suffering an abused childhood Kovacs excelled at sports and mathematics as a child, later in life he find himself disgusted by the apathy around him, and, driven by a desire to seek justice, he fashions a unique mask to hide his identity and adopts the name Rorschach. In the Watchmen graphic novel he is seen working closely with other costumed heroes, namely the second Nite Owl, in researching the death of a fellow vigilante, The Comedian. Created by Alan Moore and designed by Dave Gibbons, Rorschach is based on two other comic characters; the Question and Mr. A, both created by Steve Ditko. Originally Rorschach's unique, fluid like mask was going to be a full bodysuit, under his trench coat, this was changed early in the design phase to only feature his mask. The mask displays a constantly morphing inkblot based on the ambiguous designs used in Rorschach inkblot tests, with the mask's black and white coloring consistent with his sense and view of morality. To Rorschach, you're either good or evil, there is no in between. The character proved to be positive, if divisive among critics and fans alike. While certainly not a traditional superhero by any means, his sense of justice and keen detective work puts him on par with Batman in many respects.
