This is the main reason why, as an educator, I can't support the #SHSAT- our students are already ridiculously overtested in current age of "accountability" in public schools. Making students study after school for yet another test doesn't make our school system more equitable....

To improve K-8 schools doesn't help our students at the HS levels succeed, have access and resources. Getting rid of the #SHSAT is part of the solution, but is not complete in integrating our schools system. I'm worried if the #SHSAT fails our integration conversations will end.

The #SHSAT prevents us from doing something that research has shown over and over again helps students- INTEGRATING OUR SCHOOLS SYSTEM. It is shameful that our @NYCSchools is as segregated as it is. I'm glad this specialized HS conversation has brought integration to the convo.

We have to know that keeping the #SHSAT is a form of opportunity hoarding. Meaning some people keep the benefits to themselves while not allowing others to benefit. That doesn't benefit our education system, our students as a whole.

It would mean that kids get the message that A TEST IS NOT EVERYTHING. The #SHSAT should not dictate kids' futures. Yet so many parents believe that because of the way we've created education in NYC.
