SIGCSE 2026 part 3 - Sessons and BOFs - C’est la Z Still in St. Louis but we're now up to sessions and BOFs. On Thursday, I attended two sponsor sessions on AI. One by GitHub and the other Google. In retrospect, they were both really the same session ...

OK, this #SIGCSE2026 keynote is really hitting all my key soapboxes: CS1 is about learning to READ code, which we need to do before expecting novices to know how to WRITE code.

Is AI making CS education obsolete, or is it exposing what we should have fixed years ago? At the #sigcse2026 closing keynote, Titus Winters argues that AI accelerates both what's working and what isn't in CS and SE pedagogy, and challenges educators to rethink assignments, courses, and curricula.

Still thinking about the powerful opening keynote on "Love, Learning, and Computing Education" from @amyko.phd at #SIGCSE2026 #TS2026. She provided a timely call to center love in computing education, including in the ways we teach, research, and build. Perfect kickoff for the gathering of educators
