Leaving #SNL2025 with new energy for research and collaboration. Thank you to Gallaudet University for hosting! We presented ongoing work on (1) the neural mechanisms of Theory of Mind in distinct language profiles and (2) language learning as an intervention for cognitive decline in healthy aging.

So glad to have attended my first #SNL conference and presented a poster with @riccardoventurini.bsky.social, showing beta functional connectivity alterations linked to pragmatic impairment in schizophrenia. Great time here in Washington and inspiring talks at Gallaudet University 🧠 #NEPLab #SNL2025

Kudos to the presenter who, at their poster, explained they were "separating the forest from the (syntactic) trees" during their walk-through. #SNL2025

Watching one of my heroes Carol Padden presenting now on emerging sign languages. Rare contexts in which we can study the emergence of novel languages! @snlmtg.bsky.social #SNL2025

Padden authored the classic book Deaf in America, required reading for communication disorders students in my view.

The symposium on deaf children with cochlear implants linguistic development was refreshingly not negative! I finally don’t feel guilty about being deaf and appreciative of hearing technology (and weirdly excited about being able to get my CI after I defend?!) #SNL2025
