Richard Hayden: "If you could just..." trying to connect, desperately, needing to connect. The potential sale waves his hand at the material Richard tires to hand him and says, "Whoa, little fella, you're not speaking my language." And, sadly, that's the story of Richard's life. He's always talking at people, but never with them. We've seen it, already, and more of it here.
Richard knows it. He doesn't get people, not without great effort, and people feel the machinations, feel the effort. It causes friction with them. He feels it, too.
Tommy Boy: "What my associate is trying to say..."
Tommy Boy: "... is that our new brake pads are really cool." Neither of them knows how to connect with THESE people yet, but Tommy is going to figure it out, and Richard will figure out how to connect to Tommy, which is what he really wants. He just doesn't know it yet... or maybe he does, even.
"Whoa, little fella, you're not speaking my language."
It's the story of Richard Hayden's life, and his face shows that he knows it, too. #TommyBoy attempts to step in and work some Callahan magic, and... buckle up
