Kodak Instamatic M12 Super-8 movie camera. A black box with a lens at front that doesn't protrude from the case.
The Kodachrome K40 was a quintessential Super-8 film cartridge, a silent, colour reversal film.'Reversal film meant you could project the same film you shot after your local lab developed it, instead of it being a camera negative that required printing (precisely shining on) to a positive film print. Running time: about 3 minutes. You very carefully chose your shots: you edited in camera, meaning you exposed only frames you meant to exhibit!
The Star Wars Movie Viewer could take different film cartridges, each containing some silent scenes from Star Wars in colour. The prism at the top channeled light through the film into the eyepiece and the film could be cranked forwards and backwards at any entertaining speed you wished.
Space Giants was the first colour TV series in the style of Godzilla. In those early days huge amounts of money were spent on elaborate cities and other vistas where giant heroes battled giant monsters. The original Japanese name for this creature is Kanix; 'kani' is Japanese for 'crab'. The clash between Kanix and the army in this episode was the best of the series.
The Closest Day To Doomsday (1979) was my first film, now lost. It went when Little B's family moved away; I'd used their Instamatic M12, a very small #super8 camera. I tried to emulate the miniature effects seen in #SpaceGiants and #StarWars. I later remade the film as 'Ian of Space'. #shows
