Here's a comparison of the older #StarTrekTNG tricorder model ("Booby Trap"⬅️) and the latest model (during filming of season 4, "The Mind's Eye"➡️). They are both still labeled "TR-560 Tricorder VI" but the differences are pretty evident.

In a scene from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Captain Picard lies on a bed in sick bay with a small device attached to his forehead.
