Experiencing a natural disaster can have lasting effects on mental health, often resulting in PTSD. Unlike other traumas, the aftermath may include ongoing hardships such as loss of shelter, disrupted services, and prolonged displacement. These conditions can intensify symptoms and delay recovery. Limited access to mental health care due to strained resources further complicates the healing process.
June is PTSD Awareness Month 💚
In the wake of the recent tornado here in St. Louis, many in our community are coping with more than just physical loss; they’re also carrying emotional and mental wounds.
