Flyer featuring 10 stickers highlighting the safety & rights risks to migrant workers in the fishing industry. Text reads: Fair waters for all Safe at SEA Migrant workers, many from Myanmar and Cambodia, form the backbone of Thailand's fishing industry. Yet their safety and rights remain at risk. 48% of 305 fishers interviewed required medical care from workplace injuries. Only 1 in 3 of 630 migrant workers in fishing and seafood processing are enrolled in insurance schemes. Only 4% of 1,262 workers surveyed have formal union membership. Safe seas must also mean safe and fair work for those who fish them. 1 out of 8 of 1,262 fisheries migrant workers across Southeast Asia were found to be in forced labor.
@seajunction.bsky.social & Solidarity Collective TH have again teamed up for some cool stickers to raise awareness. This time as part of the #SafeAtSea campaign to highlight the issues & challenges faced by Migrant workers in the fishing industry.
