This photo is taken of just the top limbs of the saguaro with the sun providing backlighting against the arms that rise up like someone doing a YMCA pose.
In this image, my entire hand fits in between the rows of spines on the cactus's lower trunk.
This is one of my favorite #saguaros on our property. Photos don't explain just how thick and enormous the ARMS are, and it's not THAT large of a saguaro. Its arms are as big as main trunks on others.
For scale, look at the base... my hand fits between the spines.

This mature saguaro has at least 25 arms coming from it -- looking a bit Medusa-like!
All of the saguaros have really thick trunks and arms now, having stored up all that rain. This one is almost two saguaros in one -- with two trunks conjoined at the base and two uppermost tips.
This lone saguaro stand atop a hill with wispy white clouds and a light blue sky. It sports several holes that the birds have pecked at to make their homes.
