Because young children’s schools were bombed by aircraft during class hours, students and teachers lost their lives on the spot.During the airstrike on 251 schools, a total of 276 people, including students, teachers, and children under the age of 10, lost their lives. Additionally, 686 people were seriously injured.February 2021 and March 2026 (over five years), among the school bombing incidents, there were 20 mass-casualty events in which five or more people died, including 178 civilians, teachers, and young schoolchildren.In over five years, Sagaing has suffered the highest number of airstrikes, with 58 schools being bombed.In Rakhine, 30 schools were hit; in Magway and Northern Shan, 27 schools;in Kayin, 24 schools; and in Chin, 21 schools were bombed.Except for Yangon, Eastern Shan, and Naypyidaw, schools attended by young children across the country are currently being bombed by the illegal Myanmar military junta, led by Min Aung Hlaing, which operates behind the pro-military parliament and has claimed the title of President.The secondary impacts of these bombings continue to affect parents who have lost their children, as well as surviving children and adults who directly experienced these events, all of whom are still suffering from severe psychological trauma.This provides evidence that the illegal military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing, which seized power, is not only violating international humanitarian law (IHL) and committing war crimes, but is also carrying out mass killings of civilians, including children and women.Note: The figure of 251 schools refers only to those that were bombed by aircraft.
