Picture taken inside an ice cave. Long ice crystals are hanging from above and appear dark because of the light. At the right is a wall covered with ice, which is also dark. In the middle and at the bottom are ice crystals reaching upward. A little bit of light is filtering in from the outside causing the ice crystals in the middle to appear anywhere from white to a light pink or orange.

A sandstone cave is covered with icicles hanging from the ceiling. Much of the rock around the entrance is covered with ice, though parts of the rock show through, especially on the right side of the picture. The solid ice over Lake Superior stretches into the dark mouth of the cave.
