English: On Tuesday, August 5, Finland's Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Marja Liivala, visited Sandarmokh, a site of execution and burial for victims of Stalin’s purges. This remote pine forest area in the Republic of Karelia is the final resting place of up to 9,000 victims buried during the years 1937–1938, including around one thousand Finns. Ambassador Liivala laid a memorial wreath and placed flowers at the monuments located in the area. The commemoration event for the victims of Stalin’s terror was also attended by diplomats from Germany, Poland, and Sweden, as well as others who came to honor the memory of the victims, along with Russian media and bystanders. The event proceeded in a relatively calm atmosphere. Ukrainian: У вівторок, 5 серпня Посол Фінляндії в Російській Федерації, пані Мар'я Лійвала відвідала Сандармох, місце розстрілу та поховання жертв сталінських репресій. У 1937–1938 pp. у цій віддаленій землі під сосновим лісом у Карельській Республіці поховано до 9 000 покійників, серед яких близько 1000 фінів. Посол Лійвала поклала вінок та квіти до пам'ятників, розташованих на даній території. Цього року у заході, присвяченому пам'яті жертв сталінського терору, взяли участь також представники дипломатичних представництв Німеччини, Польщі та Швеції та інші особи, які прибули вшанувати пам'ять жертв репресій, представники російських ЗМІ, сторонні особи. Захід пройшов порівняно спокійно.
