1 #Harnoncourt (2012-2013): unsatisfactory in my opinion; I don't understand it; was Harnoncourt trying too hard to be revelatory?

Wow, the Sanctus (incl Benedictus) is gorgeous.
I take #Savall seriously and may need years or decades to form my overall opinion of this recording, just for my own purposes! Again, the Sanctus is gorgeous. I am impressed.

Symphony No.40 is terrific, too. My frame of reference is limited. #Savall has acknowledged Harnoncourt's influence; I cannot judge that. The accents and use of forte subito in Savall's exciting interpretations of the Beethoven & these two Mozart symphonies remind me of #Mengelberg! #classicalmusic
