Lesser Scaup (Aythya affinis), a common North American diving duck. Breeding males have a black head with a purplish sheen, a black neck and breast, and a finely barred gray back. It has a distinctive blue-gray bill and bright yellow eyes. The head shape often appears slightly peaked or angular, which helps distinguish it from the rounder-headed Greater Scaup. This species is the most abundant diving duck in North America and is found across Canada. *Note, while editing my image - I noted the purplish sheen - thought it was chromic aberration. Uh nope - not that.
I was going to tell a joke about the duck at Humber Bay, but I decided to just scaup the idea. #Birds πͺΆπ¦πΏπ¦
