We're travelling on water. We're at sea and looking back towards land, and our low angle across the deep blue but mostly calm sea surface comes from us being on a small tender boat moving between a ship and the port someone out of view to the left. It's a bright, warm day with not a cloud in the vibrant blue sky above. The land we can see several hundred metres away is mostly low and sandy beach but there's the start of more distant hills rising to the right. Between us and the land there's a super yacht at anchor almost filling up the width of the view with its 100-metre long length. It's all white with a sharp prow pointing to the left and a softer, sloped aft to the right. The decks are tapered and connected with a combination of straight lines and occasional curves on the exterior structure to add to the sleek look. A small helicopter is parked on a landing pad on the ship's long forward deck and a small tender boat in white is docked to the side of the yacht at midships.

We're in a commercial port after sunset looking across a stretch of water to a container ship berthed and being loaded with cargo, framed by the remnants of a sunset in background. It's a dark photo with only a small amount of orange and red glow on the horizon under a deep purple blanket of evening cloud and other lighting being provided by strong port lamps illuminating the dock area behind the heavily-laden ship. The vessel is a long and tall container ship with enough illumination to see it's a deep green colour and has the word "Evergreen" in large white lettering on its side. Seven heavy lifting cranes are lined up behind and over the ship, but only a couple of them have lights on them and the impression that they're in the middle of loading containers. The containers are arranged in seventeen columns of between five and nine containers in height and probably a dozen in depth on the deck. Most of the containers are green with "Evergreen" on them just like the ship but there are other colours present and plenty with no writing at all. A harbour tug boat is angled towards the larger vessel and pushing against it to keep the ship as steady as possible for loading.

We're in a calm harbour looking from one low, stone-lined, concrete jetty extending out from the shoreline to another just across an empty stretch of water. On the other side of that jetty, docked and with no sign of anyone aboard, there is a white passenger ferry, about a hundred metres long with an accommodation structure and bridge in the centre and even amounts of deck space fore and aft. Large blue lettering reading "Jadrolinija" is in the centre of the ship's hull with a blue line extending out of it contrasting with the white of the vessel catching a lot of sunshine. Above the name there are large, glass-free porthole windows showing an empty space within the ship that could normally contain vehicles. Above that there is a deck with square windows for passengers. Bench seating on open deck above that is then topped off with the bridge. At the prow to the left there's the word "Faros". The background shows a city with a ridge of mountains behind under an overcast sky. The buildings of the city are light-coloured stone with red tiled roofs, and a few church towers stick out.

We're on a high deck of a cruise ship that's in the process of leaving a port. Our view is mostly of the open sea which is a deep, dark blue but reasonably calm, just textured enough to suggest a decent breeze rippling across its surface. A concrete jetty extends out from the shore which is somewhere out of view to the left, and we'd been docked to it. Still docked at its end is a smaller cruise ship with sharp prow angled towards land. The ship catches the late afternoon sun on the side we're looking it making it appear to glow. The ship isn't very large - just a hundred metres long - and has a traditional-looking navy blue hull with gleaming white upper decks. The forward structure with bridge is heavily sloped backwards giving the ship a very pointed, sleek look. Writing near the tip of the prow tells us the ship is "La Belle Des Oceans".

It's a crisp, clear, sunny day and our view is from a cruise ship balcony passing through a harbour and looking at the naval dockyard and part of a low-lying city beyond. Side on to us in front, docked alongside the dockyard, there is a naval patrol vessel with distinctive dazzle camouflage - geometric blocks of shades of grey - and the identification P234 on her bow. To the right of the vessel, face on to us, there is a larger naval ship; an aircraft carrier, with ramp at the prow on the right and the bridge tower set back to the left. In the city beyond there are a few distant higher buildings but the main elements that stand out are a tall white tower shaped like a billowing sail from a ship and a few masts of old sailing vessels.

We're on the top deck of a cruise ship at night and we're standing at one corner of one of the main pools. There's nobody about so it's a very quiet scene and it's colourful though not bright due to the lighting that's around this area. A curved wooden seating area surrounds the mosaic-tiled surface that itself surrounds the rectangular pool ahead of us. There's a small ladder leading into the clear, still water on the left side and there's lifting apparatus on the far corner to get people with accessibility issues into and out of the water. A couple of hot tubs are raised up at the far end of the pool too and there are steps up to a surrounding deck above where a large, curved structure with glass windows provides a sheltered lounging space. There are some blue lights on and in the pool water while the lighting around the deck is green and that in front of the lounge space is red. The sky above is deep blue, almost black. It makes for a very pretty, relaxing view.

It feels like a cold day. The sky is a mix of very pale blue with thin layers of cloud over it. We're looking across a dark and choppy sea surface that suggests a wind is whipping across its top. Our view is taken up by a hovercraft heading to our right and just about to ride up onto the shore we're standing on. The hovercraft has a blue body with white bridge rising at the front and two propellers at the rear. The black skirt is puffed out at the bottom and partly hidden at the rear behind air and water spray rushing out.

From a high angle on a cruise ship just departing a port we're looking across a short stretch of water back to land where a ship is docked in front of the city behind it. It's an overcast day, feeling cool with a little dampness in the air. The ship we're looking at is a large fishing vessel, almost 75 metres long, sitting high in the water with its dark blue hull giving way to a white deck area. The raised bridge area is central with space in front and behind to house numerous crane arms for loading and unloading catches. At the aft there are raised beams which likely support and drag nets while at sea. The city behind is low-lying and a mix of art nouveau buildings mingling with more modern structures, but only a couple of buildings are over four storeys in height. A stone church tower with reasonable small spire is only exceeded by a more distant and impressive building coloured yellow with a high tower topped by an onion dome and spire.

It's an overcast day with a few patches of blue sky, but it's hot and humid here. We're looking across a stretch of grass, patchy with dry spots in places. In the distance there are some small hills rising but they're mostly obscured by the superyacht that's moored in front with its upper decks visible but most of its hull below the level of the ground we're gazing past. The yacht structure is broadly white in colour but where it has large glass windows they're tinted almost to black, probably for privacy. The effect is almost as if a large block of smoky quartz were broken up by slices of white decking arranged almost organically, slightly offset vertically. A central column seems to show a central atrium on the yacht of four decks with window shapes as if rectangles had been stretched and warped and twisted. A very strange-looking ship.

We're on the balcony of a cruise ship facing away from the dock and across a stretch of water to land and further docks and cranes on the other side, behind which there is a low landscape of trees and fields. A ship is docked opposite us, facing outwards and to the left. It has a deep green hull with white superstructure and a single yellow funnel slanting backwards at the very rear behind where the bridge is located. Most of the forward half of the vessel has open deck and the tops of vehicles can just be seen. The top deck's fore slopes down slightly before meeting the prow of the ship. It's a fairly overcast day.

It's night and we're on a ship in a commercial dock looking across a small, rippled stretch of inky black water to the dockside where a container ship sits in front of a background of cranes and tall lamp post with warm-toned lights casting the area in an orange-gold tone. We're on a brick slipway at the water's edge in a calm harbour on a bright day. The sky above has thin veils of clouds all over but is largely a deep blue. The water is lapping gently up the slipway and the lower metre or two of the bricks are dark, indicating where the tide reaches. A dozen or more small boats are anchored mainly on the right of view, some row boats, others with motors, none able to take more than a handful of people. A large brick building is to the right, behind a jetty that stretches out and against which there is a three-masted, iron-clad, sailing ship. Its hull is black except just above the water line where it's red. There are no sails on the masts. The bowsprit mast at the front, and facing towards land, is very long. Notably, the vessel has two low, pale orange funnels mounted midships indicating it can sail under power and under wind.

For #SchiffsSamstag here's HMS Warrior beside the naval port in #Portsmouth as taken last week. Impossible to head down here and not take a picture of this 1860 frigate, the first iron-hulled warship.

A live fish carrier ship sits docked in front of a backdrop of houses and other buildings, themselves backed by a rising, rocky landscape under a clear blue sky on a bright, warm day. We're on the far side of the harbour looking across nearly-still blue water to the vessel which is around 80 metres long and painted on its hull in vibrant blue to offset the clean white elsewhere on its bridge, funnel, and deck machinery. The front half of the ship, facing right, is higher than that behind and it hosts the bridge with its broadly hemispherical design for wide views all around, topped off with radar equipment. The rear central part of the deck is most interesting with an array of cranes with thick, folded arms, similar in appearance to robotic arms on a car assembly line. A small funnel sits to the very rear. Behind the ship on the right there are steep-roofed houses, many red brick to match the tile colours but some with white wooden boarding. Left of the ship on land there is a larger building in paler brick with stepped gables and architecture most associated with northern Europe. A rocky ridge, sparsely filled with dull green foliage rises behind the largest building then climbs gently upwards to the right of view.
