An #ÖBB 🇦🇹 Class 2143 diesel and #Schlieren carriages on a #Vienna bound train: a picture taken in 1991 at #Gmünd station. This is the #Waldviertel 🇦🇹 area, Austria’s very North. That section of the so-called Franz-Josefs-Railway wasn’t electrified yet, hence the diesel engine working this service.

Going through railway-related leaflets I picked up long ago - and which I, for some reason, kept over decades in a box: this one is from 1979, featuring an #ÖBB 🇦🇹 class 1042 electric, hauling a rake of #Schlieren carriages.

An #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #Villach to #Kötschach-Mauthen regional train is seen here at #Warmbad-Villach in September 1989. A class 2043 diesel, back then the mainstay on #Gailtalbahn services, is leading a consist of #Schlieren carriages which also includes a freight wagon.
