My fursona Rooni (Blue CoyDog, He/They) hugging a random kiddo (anthro puppy of some sort, not based off of any particular student). I work with kids from preschool age to middle school (T-K to 8th grade), and each age group has it's own needs! Little ones often haven't learned who is safe to hug yet, or how to check for consent/boundaries, so it's important we teach them! We work on having them ask for hugs and practice being told no- but since it's the end of the winter season I've been letting them cling a little extra since I won't see them all break!!!
I really don't enjoy being touched almost 90% of the time- but I do make exceptions for the kids at my work!! Kids love hugs and high fives and elbow bumps: I don't mind sacrificing some of my comfort so that they feel loved and looked after.
