I am deeply honored to be nominated and appointed as the Secretary General of the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO).

As an Afghan immigrant who was given the gift of education and opportunity, I carry this role with profound gratitude and responsibility. Afghan girls and women have the right to education—it is a fundamental human right. I take this role to serve as a beacon of hope and an example of what is possible when that right is honored. #LetHerLearn

My passion for the global GI community is unwavering. I aim to:
• Strengthen global collaborations
• Expand education and mentorship programs
• Build sustainable partnerships to advance
    gastroenterology and empower the next
    generation of leaders

To serve as a global leader is a privilege I do not take lightly. Together, we can advance care, knowledge, and equity in digestive health around the world.

When dealing with stressed or burned out employees, don't give them less work. Instead, give them more gratifying work.

An incredible pearl from @JulieSilverMD on developing leadership strategy.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will do.

A simple but powerful sentence from @LaurieBaedke as we think about the importance of having a mission to drive us just as our organizations do.

Dr. W. Brad Johnson shares: If you're going to mentor, you need to sponsor.

▪️Kick open doors.
▪️Be a "raving" fan.
▪️Share power and social capital.
▪️Match opportunities to your mentee's dreams.

Dr. W. Brad Johnson shares: Struggling to get mentors to sign up for a formal program? Flip the script. If it's an exclusive opportunity, faculty may suddenly see it as that: an opportunity. #SheLeadsHealthcare #NeedHerScience

Dr. W. Brad Johnson shares: Informal mentoring is nice when it happens, but it leaves more to chance. Formal mentoring programs are more likely to yield success. #SheLeadsHealthcare
