Sheffield Women's Collective stands firmly in solidarity with our trans community. We are deeply disappointed by the recent decisions from both the Women's Institute and Girlguiding to exclude trans women and trans girls from their spaces. These choices don't reflect the values of equality, compassion or sisterhood that so many of us have fought for. They send a harmful message to young trans people who deserve support, not rejection. Our feminism is and always will be intersectional. That means standing with all women and all girls, including trans women and trans girls. It means recognising that safety, dignity and belonging are not limited resources. It means challenging policies that divide us instead of addressing the real issues facing women and marginalised genders. Trans women and girls have always been part of our communities. Their joy, creativity, resilience and leadership strengthen every space they enter. Exclusion only fuels stigma and emboldens those who seek to roll back rights for all of us. To every trans woman and girl who feels pushed out or unwelcome today: You are our sisters. You belong with us. You always will.
Sheffield Women's Collective will continue to speak up, show up and organise in defence of trans rights, because none of us are free until all of us are free. Sign the petition now to allow transgender women and girls back into GirlGuiding UK. Also boycot, Scouts are happy to any gender!
Much appreciated statement from Sheffield Women's Collective on the exclusion of trans women from national organisations. ๐
