After a boring few miles in the woods, the trail returns to #ShoshoneLake. If you're lucky, and have a small party, you can camp here with view of the #ShoshoneGeyserBasin.
12 miles by my route, or 9 miles over a pass via #LoneStar.

If you continue past the beach at the mouth of #DeLacyCreek, the #trail on the north side of #ShoshoneLake takes you through this forest.
The trail eventually goes inland and ascends gently, well back from the paddle-only sites.

A lovely #beach at beautiful #ShoshoneLake at #DeLacyCreek. There are a few #backpacking sites here, with shared #outhouses. Reservations required, and they seem to fill early in the season.

#DeLacyCreek gradually gives way to wetlands as you approach #ShoshoneLake in #Yellowstone.
Day hikers should have lunch, explore as they like, and return. #Backpacking? Camp here, go around lake, or overnight to #ShoshoneGeyserBasin.

After descending through the forest, most of the #DeLacyCreek Trail stays within sight of the creek drainage. This would be a good day hike: mostly level three miles, lunch at #ShoshoneLake - the largest lake without a road in the Lower 48.

The #trail along #DeLacyCreek starts with this nondescript forest scene. It will take us to #ShoshoneLake and then to camp near the #ShoshoneGeyserBasin.
