Thanks. I'm aware of Saga, but will look into Dux Britanniarum. Ravenfeast has the benefit of being free (and my #SkirmishKids rules work on a more basic level). But right now I'm wary of investing in new game lines (beyond my treat of shieldmaiden minis) because of our current economic uncertainty.

Ravenfeast If you're new to the hobby of historical tabletop wargaming, we want to help you get started! Ravenfeast is a free book written to help you and your friends roll dice, command miniature armies, and...

Thanks to Annie for highlighting her #wargaming at Sutton Hoo and fueling my enthusiasm with resources like #Ravenfeast to inspire me to start Viking wargaming (always tempting me at the edges of my hobby interests). Though I might use my #SkirmishKids rules, too.

Photo of a digest-sized wargame rulebook, with “Skirmish Kids” emblazoned across the top in dynamic red-fading-to-yellow type. A photo shows gleeful kids around a wargame diorama table fiddling with figures. The motto “Small Battles for Young Minds” sits in yellow beneath the photo, along with the author’s nigh-unpronounceable German surname. All on a green faux-pebbled-leather background.

Lulu proof copy of my #SkirmishKids rules arrived yesterday. Last pass for errors, then ready to flip the switch for online sales....

Here’s a bit from four years ago when I more seriously began developing the game....

I had “help” with my Skirmish Kids photography last week...Natasha likes nestling in my terrain tray, scratching up my flocked foam slopes, and knocking over figures. Cats and boxes, I guess.

Photo of a miniature wargame. Three US Paratrooper miniatures in 20mm scale sit behind a stone wall on a flocked and wooded terrain board, with a plastic blast marker illuminating the center figure, representing a grenade blast from one of the two blurry German soldiers in the foreground. Yellow-orange letters C, B, and A denote the individual paratroopers for reference in the game text example the photo’s meant to illustrate. A ruler indicates all three paratroopers are within the grenade’s 2-inch blast radius.

Trying to move Skirmish Kids closer to publication, though I keep finding bits requiring examples and extra options to add or clarify. Working up photos for the examples, like this one for the “Blast Weapon” Heroic Trait option. Pushing 45 pages before I start inserting illos.

Trying to get pics for my Skirmish Kids game rules so I can move it closer to publication. Vader, one of our three cats, snuggled up next to my 3x3 wargaming terrain box for a snapshot with my elves versus orcs skirmish set up.
