#SmurphingPSBlues
And on Day 25 of #SmurphingPSBlues, we finish with another sword duo - one of which I'd forgotten I'd loved & one I'd never played. One slash is enough in #TheMarkofKri.
Usually one slash, maybe two with #SwordofTheSamurai (or #Kengo 2 to my surprise. It was Japan-exclusive 3 I looked for.) #PS2
For Day 24 of #SmurphingPSBlues, it was inevitable that I'd end up plucking out the celeb factor. Though #GhostHunter is not actually Brad Pitt doing a Luigi impression with a hoover.
Big names abound in #DefJamVendetta (love FFNY, but this felt like proper wrasslin'. And more exclusive to #PS2).
It's ladies day at 23 of #SmurphingPSBlues, as a couple of tail end #PS2 exclusives. Adventures with stone doggies in #Primal to start.
Then, in the spirit of sticking with wrestling games, it had to be #RumbleRoses. Intro cut (not because it's 5 mins long, but it might make some people blush...)
Day 21 - for the final week of #SmurphingPSBlues, I'm including wrestling games, the cousin of fighters. Another cel-shaded duo, as we travel fantasy lands in #Klonoa2.
And add some more fantasy in the ring, with #GalacticWrestling (actually Kinnikuman Generations) thanks to #UltimateMuscle! #PS2
As we reach day 20 of #SmurphingPSBlues, & with another pair of swordfighters, it seemed appropriate to highlight two rivals. On one side, Koei & Omega Force travel to Sengoku with #SamuraiWarriors2.
On the other side, Capcom adapts #SengokuBasaraX into a 2D fighter. Samurai fever! #PS2
Give it up for day 19! #SmurphingPSBlues celebrates in the wastelands of apocalyptic futures, first in car combat with killer clowns in #TwistedMetalBlack.
Then we get out of the car for some apocalyptic fisticuffs as equally violent, with #FistOfTheNorthStar (too violent for Europe?) #PS2
Even more Capcom on Day 18 of #SmurphingPSBlues (they did really well by the #PS2). The one of a kind cult comedy punchalot #GodHand has to be there.
And a little more SNK, as I noticed late that the party that is #NeoGeoBattleColiseum came to the console first. Lotsa punching!
A mutated day 17 of #SmurphingPSBlues, as the guns are out to save the gang in #ResidentEvilOutbreak (yes, in 2 parts!)
If finger guns are more your thing, try The Battle of Yu☆Yu☆Hakusho:Shitō! Ankoku Bujutsukai 120% Full Power (because I won't choose #YuYuHakusho Dark Tournament). #PS2
Day 16 of #SmurphingPSBlues suffers from another wave of monster invasions. Well... not the actual Kong, but his distant relatives are causing trouble courtesy of #ApeEscape2.
You won't be able to catch his counterpart in a net though, as #GodzillaSaveTheEarth rampages on #PS2.
Another multiple of 5 for day 15 of #SmurphingPSBlues requires more swords! And more monsters & demons clearly. You can get all of those and more (guns!) In #DevilMayCry, which is an apt time to play.
Want even more? #SamuraiShowdownVI (or Samurai Spirits) has it covered. Now with fatalities. #PS2
Day 14 of #SmurphingPSBlues goes Xtreme again, as I realise I also hadn't put a racing title in this list yet. #Burnout from the beginning would be my pick, for the carnage. As a treat.
Nobody symbolises the X more than #XMenNextDimension. The perfect accompaniment to the recent series. #PS2
For Day 13 of #SmurphingPSBlues, I realised I hadn't included any beat 'em ups yet. So, time to tackle the gangs with some #UrbanReign.
There's plenty of beatings available in #FightingFury (when you realise it's Grappler Baki: Baki Saikyou Retsuden, the beatings worsen!) #PS2
Day 12 of #SmurphingPSBlues is a whole ninja party, with sequels abound from Sega as #Shinobi enters the 3D realm.
And if you want more ninjas (a LOT more ninjas), then #NarutoUltimateNinja3 may be the fighter for you. There were at least 5 of these... plenty of ninjas. #PS2
On to the next 10, as #SmurphingPSBlues day 11 brings out the animal side, with some space and some guns to boot. #RatchetAndClank2 (Going Commando) has plenty of those.
Though if you want your fighting creatures to be supersized, then #WarofTheMonsters is the way to go. #PS2
Reaching day 10 of #SmurphingPSBlues means another stalwart title with swords, and that means #GodofWar finally slashes hell through Sparta and the gods.
And have another X on X, as #GuiltyGearXX rocks on exclusively with the #PS2. A whole 00s era today.
A loooonnnnng way down to day 9 of #SmurphingPSBlues. I would put #SSXTricky in here for those steep snowy drops, but the original #SSX is the #PS2 exclusive.
And you can't talk large drops without the sudden gear change of #DeadorAlive2, which went Hardcore on this console.
Day 8 of #SmurphingPSBlues gets darker and bloodier with the one exclusive of the Legacy of Kain series, #SoulReaver2.
Then it gets chaotically bloody with #MortalKombatArmageddon. (All of the 3D MKs have such great intros that they're all too long to fit!) #PS2
Day 7 brings a Sega double pack to #SmurphingPSBlues, which is quite something as I'd bought most of the Sega games I enjoyed on Xbox in that era (thanks JSRF).
However, the exclusives of the beginning of the #Yakuza saga and the long awaited #VirtuaFighter4 couldn't be missed!
#PS2
On Day 6 of #SmurphingPSBlues, we gotta be quiet and sneak around on a Sunday, to get some jewellery for Mother's Day. Let #SlyRaccoon be your guide.
If you want more cel-shaded fun, then #DragonBallZInfiniteWorld brings the fight. (Though all the Budokais could go here). #PS2
Day 5 of #SmurphingPSBlues is a tale of souls & swords... and more swords.... and keyblades even. And heartless to go with the souls. The madcap wonder of a collab that is #KingdomHearts.
And a fighter that had a strange collab or two of its own? #SoulCaliburII.
#PS2
In day 4 of #SmurphingPSBlues we go animalistic. The fun & funky way first, rapping to the beat with #ParappaTheRapper2. Then we get into serious animal business (we're talking ring outs) with #BloodyRoar3.
The only question is whether you can transform to the rhythm...
Day 3 of #SmurphingPSBlues is all about the animated showdowns with ducks & gangsters alike in the original #Timesplitters. And then more gangsters and the odd Duck in #KoFMaximumImpact.
(KOFMI2, despite being the one exclusive to #PS2, has a ridiculously long intro!)
For day 2 of #SmurphingPSBlues, two games that capped off trilogies from Capcom. The Jean Reno starring #Onimusha3 will join the others in remasterland one day...
And another early #PS2 title with #StreetFighterEX3 offering up crazy team battles... in 3D! How did it even move...
First up on #SmurphingPSBlues - my fave platformed that seems unique and lost to time... #JakAndDaxter.
And to pair it like a nice wine, another early PS2 release in #TekkenTagTournament (which also celebrates 25 years this week!)
Coming back to this, as my own day of being a thing without a disk drive exists in the same month as #PS220.
I'll do something different this time though. So many fighting anniversaries that I'll highlight one fighter and one non-fighter a day. 20? 30?
