I'm a bit giddy to share some of the results of a new camera trap site in NH (where I grew up) that we added to our annual #SnapshotUSA survey. A lot more bears than I expected including this beauty.

Congratulations! That’s an awesome spot. Also looks like a sweet spot to consider joining our #SnapshotUSA project with your students in the fall

Pretty great 2 days of talking science and conservation with #SnapshotUSA and @WildInsights collaborators. Yearly reflecting helps us appreciate our progress and plot our ambitions for 2025. @mikecove.bsky.social

my student's #SnapshotUSA camera grid just picked up our first striped skunk in the Raleigh area in over 12 years of monitoring. From Umstead state park. A wandering animal or sign of a new population?

Lots of fun tagging camera trap photos for #SnapshotUSA this fall! Here's a melanistic coyote we spotted several times in upstate South Carolina. 🌎#wildlife

This year's #SnapshotUSA yield is largely bears. Luckily this set up makes them look very photogenic and it's framed well. 🦊πŸ§ͺ

Cameras went up at the Carrizo Plains yesterday. Fingers crossed the elk leave them along for #SnapshotUSA.

Although they're invasive and cause a lot of damage, wild pigs (Sus scrofa) have a lot of personality. Getting lots of them on my #SnapshotUSA cameras.🌎

Roland Kays posted this #SnapshotUSA update on the other site & it is so cool - look how many locations collected camera trap data! Happy to be that green dot in upstate South Carolina :) 🌎 Here's the link public.tableau.com/views/Snapsh...

This black bear is staring at my #SnapshotUSA camera judging the adjustments made by another black bear. Real life peer reviews caught on film. 🦊πŸ§ͺ Luckily this guy had no comments to add so then angle wasn't adjusted further

Always reluctant to post trivialities w/ such horrors in the news, but after weeks of little more than raccoons & gray squirrels at this #SnapshotUSA camera we had a nice 36 hour run of nothing but small carnivore visits: otter, weasel, fisher & bobcat.
