There's a real chance that 30 SCG MPs may lose the whip, becoming a coherent independent group, alongside Jeremy Corbyn's 5-strong group. This could prove a nightmare for Keir Starmer if he miscalculates who the losers will be if he expels these MPs. He'll give birth to the #SocialistCampaignParty.

If TUSC/Transform members were excluded from the #SocialistCampaignParty on whatever basis, they earn the right to stand candidates against a party that could, in theory, start with 30 MPs, including Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn. Previous low votes aren't an excuse to exclude them. Let's discuss!

Tony Benn insisted there are too many socialist parties and not enough socialists. At the time, I disagreed with his point. But I've changed my mind, especially today. TUSC/Transform are one party too many. If there's a #SocialistCampaignParty, let all socialists join. No purges. No sectarian splits

If every SCG MP who wants to join a #SocialistCampaignParty should be allowed to, what about the rest of us? What about the 200,000 exiles from the Corbyn-led Labour Party? Could any of us be excluded? Hopefully no attempt will be made to do that. That said, some SCG MPs may want to ban 'entryists'.

SCG MPs who want to jump ship from the PLP into a #SocialistCampaignParty in the wake of by-election victories and polls could be criticized for taking too long. However, telling them they missed the boat isn't a good idea. Better late than never. #UniteTheSocialists

If up to 30 SCG MPs lose the whip for voting against a 3 Line whip in support of Reeves' cuts, there will build a momentum for most of the being expelled. If that happens, nothing will stop the creation of a #SocialistCampaignParty, one that will crush Starmer's candidates at the ballot box. Agreed?

Mick Lynch would probably join a #SocialistCampaignParty, and hopefully want to stand as a candidate, hopefully being elected soon in a by-election. Even before that he'd make a good part of the SCP's collective leadership. So, obviously, would Dave Nellist, whose experience as an MP is invaluable.

I don't know if the party will be called the #SocialistCampaignParty. But if it's set up by expelled SCG MPs that's a logical name, at least initially. When members queue up to join, then we can all democratically vote on what the name should be. I'd be happy with SCP. I'd vote for Zarah as leader.

If expelled SCG MPs form a #SocialistCampaignParty, they'll need to let SCG MPs who don't join initially to do so belatedly. More importantly, every single socialist who wants to join MUST be allowed to do so. The alternative is incentivizing sectarians to split the left vote; only MI5 wants that.

If SCG MPs don't vote against Reeves cuts, that's not them cast into darkness. However, if they apply to join a #SocialistCampaignParty when one is set up, members will decide who becomes part of the collective leadership. Their being a Johnny Come Lately won't help them in internal elections.

I think it likely some SCG MPs won't vote against Reeves' cuts, won't lose the whip, and won't join a #SocialistCampaignParty if SCG MPs are expelled and want to expose Starmer's left flank in the electoral arena. But those who don't join immediately may eventually come knocking on the door.

If Starmer's problems escalate, the PLP may dump him, replacing him with someone who won't stop the damage significantly. Then it's likely that the party will fragment many times over, making a coalition govt quite likely even before a general election. One fragment will be a #SocialistCampaignParty

SCG MPs who break their word to vote against Reeves cuts may, eventually, witness polls and by-election wins for a #SocialistCampaignParty, and plummeting polls for Starmer's party, then apply to join the SCP. Have they left it too late? Not in my opinion. Let them join. However, they have problems.

I'd like 30 SCG MPs to provoke their suspension and for them, as independents, to coordinate their interventions, further provoking Starmer, potentially into expelling them, thereby triggering the creation of a #SocialistCampaignParty. But it probably won't be so straightforward. #UniteTheSocialists

For a week, I've posted about the possibility of 30 SCG MPs being suspended and a logic that could propel them to form a #SocialistCampaignParty with their potential of recruiting 200,000 exiles from Corbyn's Labour. This possibility isn't inevitable, especially when it comes to numbers. Why not?

If when an SCG MP is expelled, then they're free to join JC's Independence Group. But if enough are expelled, maybe it's JC's 5 who should join the SCG group. Keep that name until a formal party is set up inviting every socialist to join. Then SCG becomes SCP. #SocialistCampaignParty.

If the SCG becomes a #SocialistCampaignParty, recruit those who want to become activists, campaigners as good as, or better, than existing MPs. 200,000 are up for grabs if we want them. Eligibility should be discussed. I say Labour's Clause4 is anti-socialist kryptonite. That'll repel the bastards.

Keir Starmer may effectively expel up to 30 SCG MPs within a couple of months. The trigger would be what they promise to do to the next 3-Line Whip. I'm pleasantly surprised by many who say they'll vote to #StopTheCuts. I'm still waiting for them to do it. But if they do.. A #SocialistCampaignParty?

This was posted 5 days ago. It's now clear that Richard Burgon will, he says, vote to #StopTheCuts. I'll hold him to that. But why take the whip back just weeks ago if he's doing what will trigger a further suspension, probably longer, maybe expulsion? If he is expelled? #SocialistCampaignParty?

I propose every #SocialistCampaignParty member has Clause4 Part 4 on membership cards, just as Labour's had from 1918 until Tony Blair ripped it up, with no mandate, 8 decades later. This time, let's actually mean it. We can debate timing, strategy and tactics etc. Democracy, human rights, socialism

If a #SocialistCampaignParty is set up providing a home to 200,000 exiles from Labour, we'd have democratic conferences and selection meetings, a collective leadership. Such a party will be big enough to let sectarians squabble over how many angels, etc. Yawn until they stop speaking. They'll learn.

If a #SocialistCampaignParty is formed, committed to challenging Keir Starmer in every by-election, who gets to join the party other than existing MPs who lose the whip? - probably 30 strong. Every socialist should be invited. This will beg questions. What about sectarians? How do we deal with them?

I think Starmer will expel SCG MPs who lose the whip for cooperating too closely with Corbyn's 5 MPs, and the Greens, and constantly voting against additional three line-whips. But we don't know the timing. Before a #SocialistCampaignParty is formed, we need to discuss many things: eg, who can join?

The only downside to not setting up a #SocialistCampaignParty immediately is vacating the space in by-elections like #Runcorn. Because socialists aren't there, legitimate outrage at Starmer is mopped up by Farage's fascists and Galloway. Of those standing, only the Greens expose the PM's left flank.

I must add, again, to previous posts. I've predicted a logic to the formation of a #SocialistCampaignParty, formed by expelled SCG MPs. But I'm in no hurry to start that party. Until they're expelled they should unite with Corbyn's group and Greens. But what about by-election? What about #Runcorn?

As soon as up to 30 SCG MPs join Zarah Sultana and Aspana Begum, and Jeremy Corbyn, as independents, they should work as a team: see how far they can get. My guess is polls and their own consciences will mean they don't care if/when Keir Starmer expels them. Then set up a #SocialistCampaignParty

I should clarify what I mean by this. Firstly, I do not want SCG MPs to declare the formation of a #SocialistCampaignParty just yet. However, if they lose the whip - and if they vote to #StopTheCuts they will -, then they're temporarily independents. Should they quit Labour immediately? imho, no.

Ian Byrne should ask himself why he got the whip back if he's immediately going to do the same thing again, losing it again? The same goes for Richard Burgon. Why do you want to don Keir Starmer's far-right straitjacket? Zarah Sultana is leading the way. Can't we have a #SocialistCampaignParty?

I want all SCG MPs to vote to #StopTheCuts. They must know they'd lose the whip. Could the 4 who just got the whip back do it again? Wouldn't Starmer tell them they're now expelled? I think so. The rest should ask themselves if they'd like the whip back just to lose it again? #SocialistCampaignParty
