Nikki Fairchild Stark's past returns. I do like this, but it's obviously the preamble to a bigger book. One that I want to read as soon as I can (which, sadly, will not be soon enough). -- Book quote 'I bite my cheek to keep from laughing. Jamie’s my best friend, but even she doesn’t know just how spicy my life with Damien is.' -- Nikki Stark Can you read this without reading prior books? Probably, but I wouldn't recommend it. Perhaps it's a personal bias because I ❤️ Damien Stark so freaking much, but that's where I stand. I borrowed the audio book. While I keep hoping Damien will get his own narrator, Sofia Willingham does a great job for Nikki and a decent job for Damien. Story: 4 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 30s; h = 30

Damien Stark and Nikki (Nicholas) Fairchild Stark continue to grow and explore together even when the "what if" game plays out. They're one of my favorite book couples, and I love this addition. -- Book quote 'What the hell has happened to me? Does the man emit some sort of Nikki attracting pheromones?' -- Nikki Fairchild Stark Every episode of their saga includes some angst, sometimes the dangerous kind. Old ghosts are revisited in a George Bailey kind of way this time. I love how this comes full circle. Fated mates in the non-paranormal kind of way. I really do recommend reading the series from the beginning. A lot of background is provided here, and you could probably get away with just reading this, but I'm biased and think this couple needs to be fully savored. I borrowed the audio book and ended up falling asleep while listening. I had such a restful night. I love getting lost in their story. The narrator continues to be Sofia Willingham. She does a wonderful job as our fair maiden. One day, I hope that a male narrator is mixed in with her for Damien, but until then, I'm very happy to have Sofia. Story: 4.5 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x

I mean, the things this man does.... *sigh* I love Nikki Fairchild Stark's weekend jaunt with her bestie, Jamie. It gives Nikki and Damien an opportunity to indulge in some role playing that is sweet, spicy, and all things I love about them. -- Book quote 'I think it is because he has so thoroughly claimed me that there is never a moment when I am not blissfully and totally aware of him.' -- Nikki Fairchild Stark I like that Damien and Nikki are secondary characters to the drama that unfolds. Do I love that they selflessly step in to help another? Absolutely! But, I also love that they aren't in the center of it. It's a refreshing change of pace. I read along with the audio book.
