Thursday dram, I forget how really good the #SpeysideDistillery Fumare CS is.

Final thoughts:
Speyside Distillery seems to offer up a great level of consistency in it's drams, which in a world of innovation and experimentation is hugely appreciated. The Trutina and Fumare are always a delight and completely underrated. Awesome tasting. Thanks all!!

Fumare CS continued:

👅: Palate: thick, sweet, lemony, smoky. Leaves a lovely numbness on the lips. Adding water, thickens this a little on mouthfeel, and brings out more baking spice notes
esp ginger, like Jamaican ginger cake. Yummy.

Fumare CS:

👃: Again, having had this before, the nose on the Fumare is like coming home to a comfy sofa, and being wrapped up in a favourite blanket. Light smoke, avgas,
a little coconut, lightly burnt toast, white chocolate, more citrus again.

Trutina CS continued:

👅: sweet, big apples and pears, with a honey dew melon and citrus follow up. A little dry heat, and with a mouth hold, some lactic feel kicking in.
With water, that wine feel grows, then turns back apple-y again. Even at 59.4%, I prefer neat.

Third up:
Trutina CS

👃: I have had this before, and even though barely any colour, it holds a great nose; lemon, buttery pastry, still with that Patisserie Valerie lemon tart.
Apple again. With water almost opens up a light white wine nose.

Next:
12 yr old:
👃: a little muted compared to CC, but very similar nose. Back of hand adds a little chocolate-y note.

👅: thin, marmalade, tiny bit of heat, apples, marzipan, malted milk biscuit. Although nice, this shows that an age statement not always better than NAS.

First up:
Chairman's Choice, 40%abv
Nose: sweet, floral, ripe banana, a little furniture polish at back of nose, red apples.

Palate: apple, toffee, like caramel apple pie, a little heat, a little almond. Not bad for a 40% abv

Definitely still love the Fumare, and the cask strength just makes it even better. Wasn't bowled over by the two at 40%, though. #SpeysideDistillery

The Spey Fumare Cask Strength is the winner for me.

I really wanted to enjoy the Spey 12 year old, but it needs a touch more ABV. It has a lot of potential.
