“Thank God, I was starting to worry!” Steve opens the door and jumps into his arms, hugging him. “How did it go?” “Very good, actually,” Wayne says after he recovers the air Steve pushed out of him with his hug. “Wayne??? Why are you back so soon? Did something happen?” Eddie chimes in, behind them, worried tone evident in his voice. But Steve can’t take his eyes off Wayne, noticing a pep in his step that wasn't there before. He’s never seen him smile like that. “Jesus, Wayne, you’re glowing! Did you get pregnant already? I told you to be safe!” Wayne shoves him off, but Steve is too busy cackling and teasing him for not saying no. “Ugh, don’t make me regret coming by, kid!”

“So, what I’m hearing is that I’m getting a new uncle?” Wayne chuckles. “I think you’re jumping the gun there, son. We haven’t even talked titles yet. He’s not dating other people and neither am I, so… that’s it. All you need to know is that I might come this way more often from now on.” “Well, we love to have you anytime.” He chimes in. Robin nods in agreement, and everyone knows already that Eddie loves each time his uncle visits. “I think you forgot to tell us the most important part.” Wane eyes him warily. “What is that, Eddie?” “Are you pregnant or not?!”

He can’t remember a time when he didn’t count on his good looks. Even as a kid, everyone thought he was adorable, and he could get away with murder. Eddie finds him curled up into a ball inside their closet, on top of a pile of his clothes that he now wants to burn. He kneels down and hugs him. “I thought I pulled you out of there like 5 years ago…” Steve chuckles between sobs. “Don’t make me laugh when I’m miserable!”

“...Wouldn’t hurt to not deep-fry everything.” Eddie sighs dramatically. “The things I do for love…” He's vulnerable, so one of his deepest fears slips out unfiltered. "Are you going to like me when I get older and fatter and hairier?” Eddie’s gaze is lost in the distance as he’s silent for a bit too long. “Babe?” Steve says, starting to worry. You and your big mouth! Eddie shakes his head and comes back to the present, pupils wide. “Sorry.” He gets his patented smirk, the one that makes Steve’s knees a bit weak because he knows Eddie is picturing him naked, to say the least. “If you somehow think that getting older, fatter, and hairier is in any way a bad thing for me, you’re very mistaken and maybe I should just prove that to you…" He waggles his eyebrows. "But let me tell you that I can’t see it the same way you do. To me, it makes me realize this Steve doesn’t forget to eat as often as you did. You aren’t afraid to find comfort in food. You’re investing more time in yourself and doing what you love, instead of forcing your body to be always ready for a fight. To me, all of that is an improvement, Sweetheart. Besides, I'd love you even if you had three asses." "Let’s be honest. You'd probably love me more if I did.” Eddie snorts. “You know me so well.”
