But Stonewall wasn’t the first. From Compton’s Cafeteria in SF to the Black Cat in LA, brave LGBTQ+ people—including Trans women—have long stood up to injustice.

We honor the trailblazers—then & now.

Police raided the Stonewall Inn, arresting 13 people and violently confronting patrons. Fed up with constant harassment, the crowd fought back. A riot erupted, drawing 100s. Protests continued for 5 more days, marking a turning point in the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
