This bill would ban Medicaid and CHIP coverage for gender-affirming care for all ages and gut the Affordable Care Act by removing transition-related care as an essential benefit. These aren’t just “culture war” provisions — they’re acts of violence. And they continue the colonial project that has always tried to erase those of us who live outside your narrow definition of worth. As a Native woman, I see what this is. I’ve seen it before. My ancestors were targeted. Our children were stolen. Our identities were criminalized. Our Two-Spirit relatives were forced into hiding, shamed, and silenced. Now, in 2025, you want to pass a bill that revives that same hate — in legislative form. And let’s not pretend this bill stops at attacking trans and Two-Spirit people. Section 70302: “This section limits the ability of U.S. courts to enforce a citation for contempt for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order. Specifically, if no security was given when the injection or order was issued, the citation of contempt may not be enforced using appropriated funds. This limitation applies to injunctions or orders issued before, on, or after the date of enactment.”
tl;dr: Taking away the courts right to interpret and enforce the law. This bill says Government officials can violate court orders with impunity if no bond was posted, which is standard in public interest litigation.
