On Jan. 1, 2020, 735am, I flew from Bangkok to Perth for some work in Bunbury.
On Jan. 29 I flew from Melbourne back to Bangkok and haven't been back since. Shortly after first Thailand, then Aus closed their airspace b/o Covid. The hashtag #strandedaussies was born.NYE since then a bit difficult.

Australia has a pretty terrible record of looking after its citizens who are in trouble overseas. #strandedaussies only one example.

Latika peaked when she was supporting #strandedaussies during early Covid when she herself was stuck in London. Since then it's been going steadily downhill.

Just found this in the shed from four years ago when Australia was happy to let tennis players in the country but not 40,000 of its own citizens. I stood outside Flinders Street station and nobody gave a shit. Shout out to all the former #StrandedAussies - we won’t forget. #AustralianOpen

unfortunately, locked out of their country was a thing in Australia, and its the reason Im back here now. In July 20 they effectively closed the airspace for 1.5 years, planes could only bring in 30 people per flight, and tickets were like 20000 bucks and frequently cancelled. #strandedaussies
