A pair of large, brown, garden snails are resting between the green stalks of discarded plants and a grey plastic fence panel. Both snails are angled so that their grey undersides are exposed, and a white tubular organ is visible connecting both snails. I felt very voyeuristic writing that!

I went to chuck some weeds on the nature heap, & found a pair of snails mating! It's not something I've ever witnessed before but it's a fascinating process - snails are hermaphroditic, so perhaps both will lay eggs after this encounter. #snails #wildlife #Springwatch or is it #Summerwatch?
