Born and raised in Shangri-la, Sun Liu is the son of the Monkey King himself, Sun Wukong. He is as mischievous, arrogant, and adventurous as his father and possesses the same abilities as him, but in his own unique way. Sun Liu is somewhat of a rebel, mainly doing his own thing rather than following in his father's footsteps. One day, when a particular raccoon dog salesman and his cabbit jackalope assistant were in town, Sun Liu wanted to buy some of his elixirs and tonics, but he was swindled by them, thus making Takeru and Jackie his rivals.
