Black and white, close up, photo of a Surprise Lily. This name comes from their growth pattern, in the Fall they produce strap like leaves from their underground bulbs which last until Spring. Then the leaves die down and nothing of the plant is visible for a few months. Then SURPRISE! Flowers shoot up from the ground for a few days before dying leaving no evidence of the plant again until Fall.
