Do you know what these are?

Sweet gum pods or balls. We have a sweet gum tree in our yard. Although I've never tried it, you can tap sweet gum trees for sap and make syrup like is made from sugar maples.

Go outside and enjoy the #urbanforest this weekend! The #Sweetgumtree features star-shaped leaves and spiky, gumball-sized fruits. The #tree earned its name from its fragrantly sweet sap that was historically used as chewing gum. Crush a leaf to enjoy its aromatic scent!
